Our mission is simple: to make teaching and learning easier.

Canvas is a different way of thinking, backed by a team of over 900+ Instructure employees globally – with a shared dream of using the latest advances in technology to change the world of education for the better.

Why are we different? Instructure isn't a traditional education company; it's a technology startup with an open, progressive attitude. That means we're able to meet the demands of our customers in education, but also encourage them to adopt new ways of thinking. Our goal is to create products that make a real, tangible difference to the lives of teachers and students.

Troy Martin

Director, Asia Pacific Sales

Troy joined Instructure in 2014 to guide the rapid adoption of Canvas in the Asia Pacific region. Spending more time in airport lounges than in either the Sydney or Hong Kong office, Troy is passionate about helping institutions benefit from adopting Canvas as their learning platform. With a background as an entrepreneur and founder of multiple start-ups in digital publishing, media and eCommerce, Troy unwinds with yet more international (ski) travel. You may recognize him from your local airport - he's the guy with Canvas stickers all over his ski bag.

Conrad Spendlove

Regional Director

With a name like Spendlove, it comes as no surprise that Conrad has achieved great success in his sales career while operating a small charity on the side. For nearly two decades, he has helped institutions in Australia and Asia Pacific find the best eLearning and content solutions. And now that Canvas is hands-down the best solution in the world, he’s “spending his love” helping take the LMS to international markets.

Julian Ridden

Solutions Engineer

It’s a bird … it’s a plane … it’s Captain Canvas! (But really, it’s Julian, the Canvas solutions engineer in Australia.) Julian’s an unashamed expert in sci-fi and pop culture, but he also knows his disruptive education. Having designed eLearning strategies at Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College and Saint Ignatius College, Riverview, Julian has more than a decade’s experience encouraging educators to think differently about open education. As Captain Canvas, he’ll keep “saving” teachers and students.

Heather Kane

Managing Director, International Markets

Heather joined Instructure in 2010 as the company's eighth employee. Since then, she's been the engine of the sales team, signing the first major account and sparking rapid adoption of Canvas throughout her sales territory. Heather is driven by her unwavering belief that Canvas is the best learning platform-and by massive, massive quantities of Diet Coke. Really. Our facilities team can barely keep up.

Rick Hansen

Director, Customer Success, APAC

Rick joined Instructure back in 2012. As Manager of the Higher Ed Customer Success team he figuratively went to the ends of the earth to help customers realize the full potential of Canvas. In 2014 he literally moved to an end of the earth by relocating to Australia to head up Customer Success operations for Asia Pacific. When he's not chasing kangaroos or trying crocodile pizza you will find him working with our customers to make their Canvas experience an awesome one. Rick earned a BA from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the University of Utah (where he actually used Canvas as a student).

Trevor Furness

Regional Director K12

Trevor joined Instructure in 2014 to help K12 institutions in Australia and New Zealand move to the Canvas LMS platform. He is passionate about technology’s ability to significantly change and improve the classroom in new and exciting ways – so, Trevor and Canvas made sense as a perfect fit! When not helping clients implement Canvas, Trevor can often be found elbow deep in music compositions or adding to his ever-increasing collection of garden power tools.

David Campbell

Regional Director K12

David claims to bring balance to APAC’s Instructure team. For years he worked in the SIS space until he saw the light and moved over to the LMS side of the education sector. Now the world is his Canvas. David believes that, just as all schools have a SIS/SMS to handle school administration, it is only a matter of time before all schools adopt a LMS to handle teaching and learning. And, not surprisingly, he believes that Canvas is the LMS of the 21st century due to it’s ease of use and high functionality. As a Kiwi, he also claims to bring cultural balance to Instructure. He blindly supports all things kiwi such as the All Blacks, jandals and the Silver Fern.
